About The Position

Expected hours of work per week : 10 Work Location & Hours : Mills Chemistry Labs 8am & 1pm Tues. and Thurs; Mills Chemistry Commons 6-10pm Mon.-Thurs; Grading on student's own time. Qualifications for Position: Permission of the Chemistry department Expected Duties and Responsibilities: Students may be expected to set up and take down for experiments clean glassware grade papers tutor other students serve as lab assistants or perform other clerical duties. Skills Developed Teaching assistants will develop their ability to explain chemical concepts to and evaluate the work of less advanced students. They will also develop the ability to follow preparatory instructions in a timely and precise manner. Resume skills development (NACE Competencies required by employers) to be developed Career & Self-Development including assuming duties or positions that will help one progress professionally. Communication in the form of communicating in a clear and organized manner so that others can effectively understand. Critical thinking by proactively anticipating needs and prioritizing action steps. Leadership is achieved by motivating and inspiring others by encouraging them and by building mutual trust. Professionalism by showing a high level of dedication toward doing a good job. Teamwork includes being accountable for individual and team responsibilities. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones. Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or to the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
