About The Position

The Chemist is responsible for performing a broad range of chemical tests and procedures in the laboratory using professional judgement in the evaluation and selection of professional methods and techniques in order to meet specification and standards set forth by Helena Industries, LLC and its contract customers.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in chemistry or biology is required.
2 years of related work experience is required.
Organizational skills.
Computer skills including experience with Windows operating system and the Microsoft Office 365 package.
Working knowledge in the operation and repair of gas chromatograph and HPLC is required.
Analytical skills.
Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
Project management experience.
Ability to stand for long periods of time in extreme hot or cold temperatures.
Must be available to work rotating shifts as scheduled including weekends.
Ability to read, write and speak in English is required.
Successful completion of a drug test and background check is required for all positions at Helena

Nice To Haves

Laboratory experience using gas chromatograph and HPLC is preferred.
LCMS experience is a plus.
Communicating in Spanish is a valuable skill at Helena.

Responsibilities

Assists the Lab Supervisor in the organization and maintenance of quality control systems and audits.
Serves as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting quality issues for the plant and quality team.
Performs quality control tests and analyses.
Interprets analytical findings to assess compliance with chemical standards and reports findings to leadership.
Performs all Quality Assurance Technician job duties and responsibilities.
Communicates with contract customers regarding quality control issues.
Develops and validates low-level active ingredient assays.
Assists in repairs and maintenance of all laboratory equipment.
Maintains a clean work environment both inside and outside the facility by using good housekeeping habits.
Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
Other work-related duties as assigned by leader.
Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Follows all company policies and procedures.
