About The Position

As a Chemist at Bentley Labs, you’ll be the bridge between a creative concept and a finished product. You’ll take ownership of lab batches and stability testing, working closely with our R&D Manager to bring innovative cosmetic formulations to life.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in cosmetic formulation development and R&D.
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or related fields.
  • Strong time and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of basic regulatory requirements (FDA, CTFA and PCPC) for formulation.
  • Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices(cGMP).
  • A proactive communicator who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment.
  • Creativity and flexibility.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop OTC and non-OTC products across skin, hair, and sun care, ensuring they hit the exact technical and aesthetic "vibe" our customers want.
  • Prepare lab batches for customer analysis and quickly pivot to reformulate based on their feedback.
  • Review new Product Development Requests (PDRs) and act as the technical expert in client meetings to ensure project success.
  • Create detailed "how-to" guides for every formula, including the order of addition and critical processing parameters for production.
  • Research emerging ingredients and technologies to keep our product offerings fresh and competitive.
  • Look for ways to make formulas more effective, cost-efficient, and easier to manufacture.
  • Effectively manage multiple projects and timelines, prioritizing your lab time to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Maintain thorough R&D documentation in line with GLP and cGMP standards, collaborating with Regulatory on all compliance needs.
  • Help maintain a positive, safe work culture by following lab procedures with a sharp eye for detail and coaching others.
