About The Position

Chemist - Technical Services will help drive continuous improvement by providing high-quality technical support across the Sazerac organization. This support will emphasize high level analytical testing, data analysis, and reporting. This person will assist in the optimization of internal and external resources in order to implement technological, quality, and cost improvements across the company with the outcome of delighting our customers. Assist in improving skills by developing yourself and your team's knowledge, skills, capabilities and performance by strengthening competencies. Utilize goal setting and developmental target by using the PDS system. Continually improve performance through feedback and self-awareness. Ensure activities, processes, and products are compliant with government agencies' regulatory requirements including OSHA, TTB, and EPA. Participate in writing, reviewing, implementing, and updating lab procedures. Ensure that team follows all work instructions and provide feedback on laboratory specifications. Assist with cleaning and organizing the lab. Provide input for lab design efficiency, ergonomics, and safety. Participate in and lead sensory assessment and training for Sazerace Center for Innovation & Technical Excellence team and for sensory panelists at production sites. Help drive the culture of "the most desired place to be" through career advancement. Create personal career goals and document in a plan for self and any applicable direct reports. Allow team members to fully reach their career development potential. Audit samples and provide feedback on quality checks and procedures being performed at all production locations. Provide feedback and support process improvements at Sazerac sites. Facilitate evaluation of sensory samples from all sites to ensure consistence and quality of product across Sazerac network. Provide technical support across the Sazerac network. Support Sazerac's effort to provide customers with world class service. This includes minimizing our customer complaints and turning Sazerac customers into raving fans. Prepare and review technical documents for global and domestic customers. Support the Sazerac Center for Innovation & Technical Excellence and the broader operation in achieving operational excellence through problem solving, implementing sustainable processes, and identifying opportunities for operational improvements. Ensure the cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness of the Sazerac Center for Innovation & Technical Excellence laboratory. Partner with Leadership and peers to ensure the highest level of sensory standards are achieved. Follow all necessary safety procedures. Actively work to improve safety of laboratory procedures in the Sazerac Center for Innovation & Technical Excellence and provide support for safety improvement initiatives across Sazerac network. Assist with implementation of technical process improvements across Sazerac's plants, co-manufacturers, and suppliers in order to ensure the highest quality while reducing costs. Support Sazerac's Sensory program to ensure the highest and consistent product quality possible. Assist our operating facilities and laboratories to continuously improve by utilizing technical skills in order to optimizing productivity, costs and quality.

Requirements

  • MUST Bachelor's Degree Chemistry or related degree
  • Strong computer skills and high comfort using technology and systems
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated sensory aptitude
  • Good physical health. For example; capable of working on your feet, sitting, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, kneeling, and squatting.
  • Willingness to travel
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
  • Yes Lab/QC or related experience
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in related field
  • Experience in Alcohol Beverage Industry or CPG overall
