About The Position

AOC is North America’s leading producer of thermoset resins, delivering differentiated formulations for demanding composite applications. AOC enables customers to manufacture durable infrastructure, lightweight automotive body panels, premium‑appearance surfaces, high‑performance coatings and pigments, and fire-retardant composites for construction.  The technical team designs products that empower engineers with exceptional design freedom while advancing more sustainable solutions across virtually every composite end use. The Chemist – Pigment Dispersions will be based in Collierville, Tennessee.  The main responsibilities are product development of pigment and thickening formulations for composites.  Examples of end uses are construction, automotive, recreation and infrastructure.   The position is hands on with formulating, compounding and molding.  The candidate should be mechanically inclined as well as have strong knowledge of chemistry.   The individual will support the product leader pigment dispersions in design of experiments, formula development, preparing samples with hands on laboratory work, maintaining equipment, and authoring technical reports.  Organization and project management skills are important.  Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.

  • B.S./B.A. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Composites Engineering, Materials Science, or Polymer Science.

  • 1+ Year formulating pigment dispersions and color matching.
  • 1+ year Formulating or compounding resins
  • Molding or fabricating composites.
  • Formulation or compounding of unsaturated polyester and epoxy vinyl ester resins
  • Color matching and weathering testing
  • Knowledge of physical testing and mechanical properties
  • Creativity, curiosity, mechanically inclined, problem solving, time management, and ability to seek out and find new opportunities for pigments and resin formulations.
  • Passion to create and ability to use chemistry and composite fabrication methods to solve real-world technical challenges.
