About The Position

We are looking for a Chemist II to join our Coatings team in Southfield, MI. Come create chemistry with us! Requirements

  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in a science major with 3-5 years of experience in color / paint
  • Have Good laboratory skills and the ability to carry out laboratory work in a controlled environment
  • Have Experience working in a dynamic environment with ability to manage changing priorities
  • Have Experience interacting with external customers
  • Have Project Management experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in OEM coating chemistries and with multiple paint systems and layers preferred
  • Are Comfortable using SAP (a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Formulating paint based on established guidelines in collaboration with global teams. You will work in a lab to make paint samples, evaluate the samples for performance, and identify the adjustments necessary to match standards per customer specifications.
  • Working in a lab to make and test paint samples to internal and customer specifications and evaluating formulas for workability and film performance to ensure they meet customer requirements.
  • Collaborating with global customization technical teams for introduction of new technologies in the North America market
  • Collaborating with Regional Key Accounts and Field service teams to address technical requests / trouble shooting projects related to new or existing products, by managing, initiating, and coordinating projects together with production sites.
  • Driving and supporting the achievement of profitable growth through continuous improvement and executing of cost saving measures of existing products and raw materials.
  • Working in SAP and other computer systems to establish codes, inspections plans, and make formulation changes.
