As a member of MiniMed’s Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Sensor R&D Chemistry team, this Analytical Chemist II will support the development of next generation CGM products. We are looking for a candidate with a strong foundation in analytical chemistry and hands-on laboratory experience supporting chemical and material characterization in research, development or regulated laboratory environments. This role will support analytical and bioanalytical testing, method execution, troubleshooting, and data interpretation for materials, formulations, intermediates, and related components including formulations containing enzyme/protein used in CGM device development. The ideal candidate will bring direct experience with chromatography- and spectroscopy-based methods such as HPLC, LC-MS, FTIR, UV-VIS along with strong laboratory documentation and instrument maintenance skills. Experience with biochemical assays (enzyme activity assays or related) as well as polymer and materials characterization techniques such as GPC, viscometry, rheology, DMA, TGA, or DSC is highly desirable.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, OR Master’s degree with 0+ years of relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

• Hands-on experience operating analytical instrumentation in a laboratory environment.
• Prior experience working in a regulated laboratory or pharmaceuticals/biotechnology laboratories
• Experience with one or more of the following techniques: HPLC/UPLC, LC-MS, GPC, TGA, DMA, Rheology, DSC and other related analytical chemistry methods.
• Experience with sample preparation, method execution, data analysis, and laboratory documentation.
• Experience preparing biological samples and executing biochemical assays to evaluate protein concentration, activity, purity, stability, or degradation.
• Experience following SOPs, test methods, or controlled laboratory procedures.
• Experience with instrument calibration, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Experience analyzing and documenting results using laboratory software and standard data systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard scientific data analysis/reporting tools.
• Exposure to inventory management and ordering systems (e.g. SAP)

Responsibilities

• Perform qualitative and quantitative analytical testing of chemical, polymeric, and material samples in support of research, development, and investigational activities.
• Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation such as HPLC/UPLC, GPC/SEC, LC-MS, FTIR, UV-VIS, viscometers, rheometers, DMA, TGA, DSC, and other laboratory instruments as applicable.
• Execute analytical test methods and standard operating procedures for raw materials, in-process samples, intermediates, and finished materials.
• Execute biochemical assays used to evaluate enzyme function, stability, recovery, and formulation performance.
• Perform test method development, characterization, optimization and validations including generating Test Method Validation Plans and Reports.
• Generate, reduce, review, and interpret analytical data using appropriate software systems and prepare clear technical summaries, reports, and documentation.
• Support laboratory investigations related to material variability, process changes, out-of-trend results, and root cause analysis.
• Assist in development, optimization, transfer, and verification of analytical methods.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records in accordance with applicable procedures, data integrity practices, and documentation requirements.
• Support instrument qualification, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and readiness of laboratory equipment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including materials development, chemistry, process development, quality, and regulatory to support technical programs and project deliverables.
• Support testing associated with polymer/material characterization and establish relationships between composition, structure, and material performance.
• Train or assist in training laboratory personnel on analytical methods, instrumentation, and good documentation practices.
