About The Position

The Chemist I position involves providing routine analytical services utilizing techniques such as ICP and wet chemistry for raw materials, in-process, and finished product assays. This role supports Research and Development projects, interprets analytical results for various departments including production, sales, and customers, and is responsible for maintaining accurate and complete quality records. Key duties also include assisting with Product Development requests, scheduling and performing laboratory equipment calibration, maintaining lab equipment and supplies, conducting Out-of-Specification (OOS) investigations, and managing chemical inventory and CoA binders. The Chemist I will also contribute to validation and qualification support for instrumentation and methods, ensure a clean and safe laboratory environment, adhere to cGMPs and safety policies, and participate in improvement projects using LEAN management principles.

Requirements

  • Fundamental understanding of cGMP and Safety regulations.
  • Experience in an analytical laboratory setting.
  • Ability to develop and implement test methods.
  • Possess oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational abilities
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Must have strong personal time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and to work with minimal supervision.
  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel).
  • Customer oriented mindset.
  • Minimum BS/BA Degree in Chemistry or allied fields
  • No experience required

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine analytical services using ICP, wet chemistry techniques and other typical analytical techniques used for raw materials, in-process and finish product assays
  • Support Research and Development projects
  • Interpret results of analyses to provide information to production, sales and customers
  • Document test results in Notebooks, Controlled Documents and Forms; maintain accurate and complete quality records
  • Assist with Product Development requests.
  • Schedule/perform laboratory equipment calibration (daily and third-party annual)
  • Maintain all laboratory equipment and supplies to prevent testing delays
  • Conduct OOS investigations, as needed.
  • Maintain Chemical Inventory and Master Chemical lists
  • Maintain Chemical CoA binders
  • Will provide validation and qualification support for instrumentation, methods, including, writing and reviewing protocols while maintaining a laboratory notebook
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized lab area and potentially assume responsibility to ensure that others maintain their lab areas
  • Follow, understand and comply with Giles/Premier SOP’s and policies on cGMPs and Safety
  • Support improvement projects and drive efficiency through utilization of LEAN management principles
  • Perform other Laboratory, Quality and/or Safety support functions as assigned.
