About The Position

Are you energized by precision science, high-tech innovation, and leading teams at the front edge of U.S. nuclear technology? As the Chemist, Fellow at Centrus Energy, you’ll be the driving force behind further expanding a world-class lab that keeps our enrichment operations safe, compliant, and running with clockwork accuracy. You’ll lead a team of talented scientists and technicians, develop mature mass spectrometry and Non-Destructive Assay (NDA) programs, provide technical support to the nuclear material control and accountability program, provide design and system support to the engineering organization and develop laboratory operations that support the nation’s most advanced nuclear technology. If you love blending leadership, problem-solving, and a dash of scientific detective work—this is your laboratory command center. What You Will Do: In this role, you’ll be key part of a high-performing laboratory team responsible for the safe, compliant, and highly precise operation of mass spectrometers, NDA systems, and other analytical capabilities that support NRC-regulated nuclear operations. You’ll manage the development of lab programs and processes from initiation to steady state operation; develop calibration, maintenance, and UF₆ isotopic standards programs; coordinate with operations, engineering, auditors, and regulators; and ensure all work aligns with nuclear safety, QA, configuration management, and security requirements. You’ll maintain strong team focus, troubleshoot technical and operational challenges, and drive continuous improvement across laboratory systems—all while fostering a positive, collaborative environment.
