About The Position

MSRC is seeking a highly motivated Chemical Technician to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. Position is contingent upon funding The Research Chemist will provide technical expertise and support for energetics operations and testing to support aerospace, defense, and industrial programs. In this role, the Research Chemist will collaborate closely with engineers, scientists, and R&D teams to ensure testing and evaluation are conducted to meet manufacturability, performance, and reliability requirements. Responsibilities include supporting energetic operations, designing support hardware, supporting testing activities and researching new designs or systems.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and a minimum of 20 years of hands-on experience working with and around energetic materials including formulating and casting solid propellants.
  • Possess foundational mechanical and chemical knowledge, along with experience in propellant, rocket motor, and warhead assembly.
  • Experience working within research, development, and processing environments related to Ammunition and Explosives (A&E).
  • Collaborate with engineers and chemists to support daily operational needs related to various projects.
  • Document inventory adjustments in the Ammunition Tracking System (AMCATS) and assist in resolving and correcting discrepancies.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the proper disposal methods for energetic waste.
  • Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a strong awareness of safety protocols.
  • Adhere to established Operating Procedures (SOPs) and test plans for energetic operations while providing hands-on assistance during mixing and casting activities.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating standard equipment, ie. mixers, ovens, vacuum pumps, scales, air compressor, etc.
  • Assembly and dissemble of energetics components
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Active Secret DoW Clearance or eligibility to obtain clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain Ammunition & Explosives Handler Certification.
