Requirements

  • Requires ability to use variable measuring instruments, read ordinary drawings, record temperatures, voltmeter readings, and information from other related instruments
  • Minimum of 6 months of professional career experience
  • HS Diploma or equivalent career experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Follow prescribed procedures to perform chemical processing of spars.
  • Some judgement an minor decisions required to perform operations, maintain solutions and positions spars in tanks.
  • Duties require the exercise of discrimination and care in meeting quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of chemical processes and chemical machining operations on titanium sheets, tubes and spars within the spar and rotor blade manufacturing areas
  • Follow prescribed procedures, written and oral instructions to perform chemical process operation on titanium sheets, tubes and spars.
  • Perform any cleaning required prior to welding, spraying and bonding operations.
  • Perform removal of alpha case after forming tube on brakes
  • Provide treatments with Colene to remove Turco coating and acid insoluble scale following hot forming spars.
  • Perform etching to chemically mill to specified dimensions and arrive at proper weight and moment
  • Perform application of fluorescent penetrant prior to inspection
  • Perform pre- bond treatment (picatinny) to remove shot peen residue and other foreign materials; application of adhesive primer for bonding adhesives.
  • Perform similar duties on channels, bushings, test strips etc.
  • Maintain solutions at specified densities and proper temperatures.
  • Operate mechanical lifting devices and set time controls.
  • May be requested to perform other processes such as; anodize, dichromate, Alodine, etc. or other related duties as required.
  • Perform operator checklist as required.
  • Follow all rules and regulations pertaining to environmental health and safety.
  • Segregate waste material and follow good housekeeping practices.
  • Refer questionable conditions to working leader or supervisor/ management.
