Performs calibration, maintenance, and construction support for all types of instrumentation and control devices and systems in fine chemical and pharmaceutical production plants, pilot plants and laboratories and their supporting utilities. Includes calibration, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, construction, modification, testing, installation and operational checkout of electronic and electromechanical devices and systems. Devices include processing utility instrumentation and controls, including mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, and computer based controls, laboratory equipment, test equipment, scales, recorders, programmer logic controllers, cameras, radios and computers. Includes validation, calibration and maintenance of pharmaceutical equipment which requires understanding of cGMP requirements and regulations, and includes calibration and care of reference, transfer and electrical / electronic primary and secondary standards. Plans the sequence of operational determines work methods. Maintains, writes and follows calibration and maintenance procedures. Interfaces with Operations to coordinate work and minimize downtime. Interfaces with construction, start-up and validation personnel to provide control systems support. May require examination of process control software as necessary to perform work listed above. May require use of common shop tools, up to and including lathes and mills, in support of work on instrumentation controls. Work also includes minor electrical and mechanical repair or modification work which interfaces with instrumentation and controls, and may, when appropriate, include tasks normally performed by other crafts.
