About The Position

AMVAC Chemical Corporation, an American Vanguard Company, is seeking a Chemical Packager to join our manufacturing team in Axis, AL. This role supports the packaging and shipment of chemical products while operating and maintaining equipment in a safe, efficient manner. Candidates must be willing to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, and adapt to evolving production needs. The Packager plays a key role in the final stages of the manufacturing process, ensuring that products are accurately filled, sealed, labeled, and prepared for shipment according to quality and safety standards. Operating across multiple packaging stations-including pack lines and drum filling areas-this position requires attention to detail, adherence to production specifications, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work environment. The Packager works closely with production teams to support efficient workflow, troubleshoot minor equipment issues, and uphold site safety protocols. Requirements

  • Experience operating a forklift or similar industrial truck
  • Solid understanding of safety, security, and operational procedures, with the ability to apply them consistently
  • Familiarity with equipment operation, safe storage, routine maintenance, and basic repair practices
  • Ability to perform general math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
  • Capable of reading and understanding instructions, memos, and basic documentation
  • Able to assess and respond appropriately to operational issues, escalating to leadership when needed
  • Skilled in interpreting written, verbal, diagrammatic, and scheduled instructions
  • Works effectively both independently and within a team environment
  • Thrives in high-demand, fast-paced manufacturing settings while maintaining safety and quality standards
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must have good communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Forklift experience preferred with the ability to pass in-house certification once employed
  • Mechanically Inclined
  • At least 6 months in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook / email
  • Must be able to pass a physical and drug test
  • Pass pre-employment criminal background check and other tests as required

Responsibilities

  • Operate filling, capping, labeling, casing, and palletizing equipment with a focus on quality, speed, accuracy, and consistency
  • Follow all safety protocols and actively contribute to the site's safety and health management program
  • Wear required PPE and ensured packaging equipment is maintained in safe, operational condition
  • Monitor packaging quality to ensure compliance with product specifications
  • Ensure packaging aesthetics and quality conformance standards in controlling different stages of packaging
  • Accurately records pack size and quantities on batch documentation to support traceability and inventory control
  • Perform efficient setup and changeovers to minimize downtime and support production flow across various pack sizes
  • Operate forklift to transport packaging materials and finished goods safely and efficiently
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free packaging area
  • Ensure the working environment is clean and free from spills, drips and miscellaneous waste or debris
  • Properly store and stack packaging components
  • Proactively identifies and addresses potential safety or quality issue
  • Performs additional duties assigned by management to support operational goals
