This position will offer a qualified candidate the opportunity to work in Raytheon’s Materials and Process Engineering (M&PE) Department, servicing all of Raytheon with innovative solutions to nonstandard problems. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work in M&PE’s world class lab, performing hands-on-testing of adhesives, elastomers, polymers, tapes, composites, metals, and various other production materials vital to the success of our products.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
- This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
- Course work or lab experience in Materials Engineering or Chemical Analysis
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Active and existing security clearance required on day 1
Nice To Haves
- Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry majors
- Experience reading and interpreting technical specifications
- An understanding of material testing/analysis such as hardness, adhesion tests, sample preparation procedures, and cross sectioning
- Experience in performing and managing high volume, highly technical work
Responsibilities
- Test a wide array of materials for compliance with drawings, specifications, and program applications.
- Work in a “wet lab,” observing all safety procedures and common lab protocols.
- Write scientific reports using generated data to support technical dispositions.
