Thatcher is looking for the right intern candidate with a high motivation and ambitious drive to join our team as a Chemical Engineering Intern at our Salt Lake City, Utah site. This opening is for a 4-month summer term with the possibility of part-time work through the school year. Thatcher’s Williamson site manufactures, packages, and distributes a large variety of chemicals to support many industries, including water treatment and food and dairy.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a university Chemical Engineering program.
Able to work within a chemical manufacturing environment
Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship

Nice To Haves

Experience in or knowledge of chemical manufacturing/refining solutions.
Hands-on mechanical interests and aptitude.
Experience with CAD.

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day engineering support for plant operations. (Troubleshooting, problem solving, coordination, etc.)
Perform engineering functions as determined by your experience and ability to learn and work with people in various manufacturing processes.
Assist in small projects, including development of scope, economics, design, implementation, commissioning, training, and start-up.
Identify opportunities to increase manufacturing safety and efficiency.
Create professional documents (Standard Operating Procedures, Forms, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, etc.) that define the company's manufacturing procedures and equipment.
Other opportunities to self-identify work are available depending on students interests and capabilities.
