Thatcher is looking for the right intern candidate with a high motivation and ambitious drive to join our team as a Chemical Engineering Intern at our Salt Lake City, Utah site. This opening is for a 4-month summer term with the possibility of part-time work through the school year. Thatcher’s Williamson site manufactures, packages, and distributes a large variety of chemicals to support many industries, including water treatment and food and dairy.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a university Chemical Engineering program.
  • Able to work within a chemical manufacturing environment
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in or knowledge of chemical manufacturing/refining solutions.
  • Hands-on mechanical interests and aptitude.
  • Experience with CAD.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day engineering support for plant operations. (Troubleshooting, problem solving, coordination, etc.)
  • Perform engineering functions as determined by your experience and ability to learn and work with people in various manufacturing processes.
  • Assist in small projects, including development of scope, economics, design, implementation, commissioning, training, and start-up.
  • Identify opportunities to increase manufacturing safety and efficiency.
  • Create professional documents (Standard Operating Procedures, Forms, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, etc.) that define the company's manufacturing procedures and equipment.
  • Other opportunities to self-identify work are available depending on students interests and capabilities.
