Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent education.
  • Basic knowledge of commonly-used concepts, standards and equipment.
  • Basic technical experience with equipment, processes and control systems used in plants.
  • Basic communication skills to comprehend, follow direction and convey detailed technical data.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships; work collaboratively within a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Extracts and compiles engineering data, processes computer data using specified formulas and procedures.
  • Prepares data and process input information for computer programs, selects appropriate programs to obtain results required and prepares output data in usable form.
  • Performs routine analysis to check applicability, accuracy of data.
  • Prepares rough drawings and sketches and lists of materials following standard practices from instructions furnished by engineers, designers or other technical employees.
  • Performs other technical tasks to assist engineers in the performance of their duties following standard procedures.
  • Scans/copies drawings and provides other general administrative support activities as needed.
  • Assists project engineers with design, procurement, fabrication, installation and startup.
  • Assists plant and maintenance engineers with equipment repair trouble shooting, instrumentation and preventive maintenance procedures, spare parts, etc.
  • May perform CAD (computer aided design) design.
  • May require assisting in performance of testing, data acquisition and data analyses.
  • Performs job duties in a safe manner. Promotes a safe and healthy workplace by following safety rules.
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience with associated codes and standards, including CSA 516, National Building Code, and hands-on assembly & repair of equipment.
