The Chassis Systems Engineering Supervisor (LL6) position leading global suspension and chassis system application and foundation engineering from concept through ongoing production with a focus between UNV0 through MP1. The chassis systems team is responsible for delivering our next generation products and ensuring chassis designs meet both vehicle and customer needs. CSE is the link between the vehicle attributes/requirements and the components. The CSE role ensures vehicle tuning and/or component changes do not adversely affect error states, vehicle attributes, or quality. In this role you will lead a global team of chassis system engineers through a structured process to ensure model accuracy, maintain the master vehicle Adams models used by roadloads/vehicle dynamics/NVH/chassis CAE/others, a thorough TDR/DV processes, and lead system interaction discussions across the vehicle portfolio. This position demands dynamic leadership, deep technical problem solving skills, and strong communication skills to ensure the voice of CSE is represented in program and attribute team decision forums.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related degree
  • 5+ years of suspension system and suspension component engineering design & release experience.
  • knowledge of various chassis architecture performance characteristics, and experience with vehicle, system, and component durability validation methods, architecture creation, and vehicle manufacturing.
  • Strong Leadership and ability to lead a diverse, global team
  • Strong communication skills at all levels of the company
  • Knowledge of engineering tools & processes incl. FMEA quality process & documents, DVP&R, GD&T, DVA, and CATIA/Teamcenter
  • Knowledge of engineering GPDS deliverables
  • Project management skills
  • Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Motivated self-starter, ability to manage/prioritize multiple assignments

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related degree.
  • Leadership in a technical role
  • Experience with ADAMS Chassis/Car a benefit and if not known then required willingness to learn

Responsibilities

  • Global team of engineers, both direct and indirect reporting structure
  • Delivery of the chassis systems suite of ES’s/metrics to ensure delivery of vehicle level attributes.
  • CSE nominal ADAMS model integrity through the life of a program.
  • Lead interface with Vehicle Dynamics/NVH/Road Loads and other functions for target alignment and system level attributes delivery.
  • Cross functional issue resolution
  • Support resolution of application D&R plant, supplier, and durability concerns
  • Ownership of the suspension foundation DFMEA/SCCAF to support D&R component FMA process
  • Progression of CSE requirements, design rules, and test methods. Interface with component SME/TE to ensure CSE considerations are included in requirement updates
  • Fostering the relationship between CSE, Application D&R, and Chassis Architecture
  • Drive continuous improvement: ensure cost efficient designs, drive warranty reduction, share regional best practices across the organization, and support progression of modeling methods.
  • Ownership of application CSE requirements, design rules, and processes.
  • Ownership of the suspension system DFMEA and suspension system SCCAF
  • Work with the suspension and chassis design load experts and the chassis CAE experts to develop methods that address allowed component and system variation.
  • Resolution of production warranty for alignment, pull / drift, and clear vision.
  • Create and Conduct training sessions.
