About The Position

Ford is seeking embedded software professionals to join an agile, technically expert engineering team focused on developing the latest chassis controls technologies. The team is part of Ford’s Electric Vehicles, Digital and Design (EVDD) group, which is dedicated to delivering an industry-leading customer experience for electric vehicle buyers and owners and transforming the future of transportation. This role involves a mix of theory, computer simulation, and in-vehicle testing for chassis controls positions. Examples of technologies delivered include Roll Stability Control, Yaw Stability Control, Trailer Sway Control, Trail Control, and Trail Turn Assist. Upcoming projects will continue to advance Driver Assistance and Autonomous Vehicle Technologies. The position is located in Dearborn, Michigan.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or a related degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with controls systems work in embedded software on a complex mechatronic system

Nice To Haves

  • MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or a related degree
  • Understanding of, or an interest in learning, C-coding standards, best practices, and software development
  • A strong background in vehicle dynamics
  • Experience with vehicle limit handing and driving practices
  • Embedded automotive SW development experience in a motion controls area
  • Familiarity with ISO-26262
  • Familiarity with developing SW in an AutoSAR module (classic preferred)
  • Experience developing software requirements and/or software test cases
  • Experience working in a SAFE/Agile structure

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and verify brake based control algorithms written primarily in C-Hand code
  • Develop requirements and design verification plans for motion control features and functions
  • Perform software functional MIL/SIL testing, working closely with chassis controls analytical method test engineers to prove out functions
  • Use simulation, unit testing and vehicle testing to verify algorithm updates, improvements and tuning strategies
  • Collaborate with feature and system engineers to develop new SW functions to improve experiences for our customers
  • Work with calibration teams to understand and tune control algorithms in vehicle
