About The Position

We are seeking a Technical Lead to drive the architecture, evolution, and execution of Chassis Controls HIL/SIL simulation environments. This role is central to advancing our virtual development strategy, enabling next-generation chassis, propulsion, and software-defined vehicle technologies. You will shape simulation frameworks, lead the transition from HIL to SIL, and provide technical leadership across teams to ensure reliable, scalable, and future-ready xIL environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related field
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • 7+ years of engineering experience (post-graduation)
  • 5+ years of product development experience
  • Technical depth in at least two architecture domains (system architecture, software architecture, DevOps/CI/CD, functional taxonomy, system safety, control architecture)
  • Experience with HIL application engineering and simulation modeling
  • 3+ years of MATLAB/Simulink for plant modeling, integration, and real-time simulation
  • Strong understanding of Vehicle Dynamics and Chassis Controls
  • Proven success leading complex, ambiguous engineering projects
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt to evolving products and processes
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to operate test vehicles
  • Willingness to travel (1–3 weeks per year)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in controls engineering, real-time simulation tools (e.g., dSPACE), testing/validation, or domains such as Chassis, Propulsion, VMEC, N&V, Vehicle Dynamics, or VDDV
  • Knowledge of major automotive subsystems
  • Experience with data acquisition instrumentation, CANalyzer, or NeoVI
  • Understanding of software development processes and control theory

Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture, development, and maintenance of Chassis Controls HIL and SIL simulation environments supporting current and future vehicle software platforms (IBAC, VMC), chassis/propulsion systems (eBoost, BbW, SBW, EV/PHEV/ICE), and toolchains (VIP, SDV2.0).
  • Drive the transition from HIL to SIL , establishing standard work and closing capability gaps in scripts, tools, and processes.
  • Ensure xIL models and benches remain current and operational by identifying bottlenecks and implementing proactive technical solutions.
  • Build and expand a shared xIL environment backbone for Chassis Controls, Driver-in-the-Loop (DIL), brake HIL, and steering HIL teams.
  • Collaborate with VDDV, Global Performance, S&S, VMEC, and SDV partners to align simulation strategies across domains.
  • Develop business cases for new simulation frameworks, capital investments, and toolchain improvements; present recommendations to leadership.
  • Lead and mentor a team of product owners and model developers , guiding strategy, priorities, and execution.
  • Facilitate cross-lab technical forums to streamline tools, eliminate redundancy, and identify efficiency and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Provide technical leadership for complex projects, from requirements through execution, with high autonomy and accountability.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging tools, communicating opportunities and risks to leadership.
  • Support the HIL lab with strategic planning and resource coordination, removing technical blockers to ensure successful digital transformation.
