Position Highlights Spencer Hospital is a rural hospital located in northwest Iowa employing over 500+ employees. Positions at Spencer Hospital are not affiliated with Avera; however, we collaborate to provide services to the communities we serve. Employment offers, if accepted, are exclusively with Spencer Hospital. Full-Time or Weekend Package positions qualify for hiring incentives paid out over a 3 year period. The amount of incentives offered may be discussed during the interview process.

Requirements

  • 3 years RN experience in hospital acute care
  • IA RN license or compact state
  • BLS, ACLS, PEARS or PALS and NCI - inhouse certification available upon hire
  • Must be a caring communicator, flexible, able to multitask and be comfortable with technological systems

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a Charge RN or Team Leader preferred

Responsibilities

  • A clinically competent, registered, professional nurse who prescribes, delegates, and coordinates patient care to the acutely ill patient through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Effectively interacts with patient, significant others, and other health team members, while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
  • Assumes responsibility for the management of clinical and supportive activities and allocation of human resources of the unit on a designated shift.
  • Coaches and supports the team in accomplishing the unit and hospital mission.
  • Ensures that care is delivered by those who are competent/trained to do so according to the patient population, level of technology required, complexity of care needs, and the age of the patient.
  • Responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide individualized nursing care for post-operative and acute care patients requiring hospitalization.
  • Assumes the responsibility for the outcome of nursing care during a specified work period.
  • Collaborates with all available nursing personnel to provide total patient care
  • Must have knowledge of and utilize appropriate age-related patient protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of patients.
