Employees in this classification are responsible for nursing care at unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Implements unit objectives and administrative policies. This position is under clinical supervision of the Unit Director of Nurses. Makes daily assignments as appropriate and ensures all daily assignments are accomplished. Communicates patient data using Electronic Health Record (EHR) to support decision-making to improve patient care. Assists with or performs exams and procedures and documents intervention in EHR. Administer or assist with administration and documentation of medication. Supports the goal of the unit by attending meetings and sharing the information with the staff in regular staff meetings. Maintains working knowledge of current issues and treatment modalities. Monitor patient Access to Care for housing areas assigned to your shift. Assures that physical counts of sharps, instruments, & keys are correct and documented in appropriate logs. Accepts on call rotation. Assist in planning, coordinating, directing management functions for the unit. Responds to all request in a timely manner as required. Other duties as assigned.
