The Charge Nurse (RN) will join a mission-driven team at Denver Health, specifically in the 6A Medical/Surgical unit. This unit is a fast-paced environment that cares for high acuity patients from various services including medical, surgical, OB/GYN, cardiac, neurology, rehabilitation, and observation. The unit maintains a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 and a CNA-to-patient ratio of 1:10, with all CNAs cross-trained as unit clerks. The Charge Nurse, with minimal direction, supervises nursing and support staff in an inpatient unit, specialty clinic, or treatment programs in various patient care settings. This role adheres to the American Nurses Association (ANA) standards of professional nursing and performance, and the ANA Code of Ethics (2015) to provide care. The Charge Nurse applies critical thinking, evidence-based policies, procedures, guidelines, and competence to collaborate with the health care team to promote excellence in patient safety and quality outcomes, utilizing the Theory of Human Caring and Caritas in daily practice.
