The Charge Integrity Associate 1's primary responsibility is to coordinate billing services, specifically physician billing services. This role requires working in a fast-paced environment and multitasking. The associate is responsible for handling payments for physician billing services, and for physician practice and home health, coordinating billing services and providing diagnostic and procedural codes to individual patient health information for data retrieval, analysis, and claims processing. Key duties include entering patient encounters into the practice management billing application, communicating with various internal teams, understanding ICD-10, CPT, and associated modifiers for successful encounter processing, and staying updated with CMS guidelines. The associate is also responsible for maintaining and clearing worklists in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, Certificate of Attendance, Certificate of Completion, GED or equivalent training or experience
  • 2 Years of health care experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Systems Word, Excel, Power Point and Access
  • Must be detail-oriented team player with excellent written and communication skills
  • Experience in Medical Record review for documentation and bill auditing
  • Proficient in English and Spanish
  • Able to foster/maintain a strong professional relation with physicians, hospital leaders, staff and patients
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with other departments in order to resolve pending/missing information on encounters to expedite the timely transmission to payers
  • Excellent Time- Management Skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure in order to meet stringent deadlines
  • Understanding of ICD-10, CPT and associate modifiers to successfully process encounters
  • Staying up to date with CMS guidelines

Nice To Haves

  • Background in coding experience in other released areas such as collections, refunds, and reviews of claims and understanding of Charge Review responsibilities
