About The Position

Position Summary: The Charge Capture Analyst is responsible for to ensuring the accuracy and completeness of patient charges and supporting documentation to produce compliant patient billing and associated reimbursement. Incumbents must demonstrate the ability to read medical records, have an understanding of medical services performed, and discern correlation of such services to corresponding charges. The Charge Capture Analyst must also monitor chart and order completion for Barrett Hospital and external providers by sending out notices in a timely fashion. An in depth understanding of outpatient charging methodology is strongly preferred. As a member of the Health Information Management team, the Charge Capture Analyst is required to coach clinical staff in accurately documenting billable medical charges. Self-motivation, attention to detail, and excellent customer service skills are a must for success in this position. Candidates who have a strong passion for customer service excellence, outstanding computer skills, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize unexpected requests will be strongly considered. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma, GED or equivalent required. Preference will be made for candidates who possess three years of medical billing, coding, or charging experience.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for accurate and compliant charge capture through the evaluation and appropriate maintenance of all ambulatory and acute clinical operational processes
  • Actively collaborates in all aspects of the chargemaster for assigned departments
  • Identifies charge capture opportunities and works with clinical areas
  • Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all
  • Answering of phones within the department and helping with Release of Information upon request
  • Ability to review patient chart to calculate accurately hourly charge for observation stays in observation and surgery setting.
  • Scans within Epic documentation from other departments with ability to Quality Assure and index for accuracy.
