Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Theology, Divinity, Spirituality, Religious Studies, Pastoral Counseling, or a related field of ministry from a school accredited by a member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • Must have completed at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education.
  • No minimum experience required.
  • Licensed or ordained chaplain, and in good standing with their faith tradition.

Nice To Haves

  • Completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education in a hospital setting.
  • 1 year of experience in Labor and Delivery, Mother Baby, and Women’s Services.
  • Endorsement or appropriate recognition of ministry by the governing body of the Chaplain’s denomination/faith group
  • 3 years of successful post graduate pastoral care, preferably as a chaplain in a healthcare setting
  • Membership (or eligibility for membership in) the Association of Professional Chaplains or the National Association of Catholic Chaplains.
  • APC Board Certification.
