About The Position

The Chaplain position is managed by the Spiritual Care Specialist in partnership with the Vice President of Mission Services to staff the Mission Services Department at their assigned hospitals. This department is responsible for the management and quality of religious and spiritual care of the patients, families, and their visitors, as well as hospital staff members. The Chaplain will be responsible for the religious and spiritual needs of the patients, families, and their visitors, as well as hospital staff members. The Chaplain will respond in a timely manner to all requests for spiritual care and assistance. The Chaplain will assess the religious and spiritual needs of the client, and address or assist in addressing these needs whenever possible. The Chaplain will offer spiritual support and guidance where appropriate. This position adheres and ensures the mission is integrated with ethical values into patient care and spiritual care delivery. The Chaplain partners with the Experience Department to provide a caring compassionate experience for all patients, their families, and fellow team members which includes documenting rounds done on patients and staff and performing service recovery when needed. This position is expected to provide support during a Hospital Emergency at the Incident Command, if needed, relative to their role of psychosocial support. Performs related responsibilities as required. The Chaplain position is expected to mentor and reinforce best practices, provide peer-to-peer research based learning, including certification support to fellow Mission Services team members. This role requires board certification.

Requirements

  • Board Certification from the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC), or National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC) preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) unit.
  • Ordination in a recognized ecclesial tradition.
  • In good standing with the ecclesial authority and in good standing with their faith organization.
  • Minimum of one (1) year in ministry with demonstrated competence in pastoral care.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous pastoral care experience within healthcare preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
