The Chaplain Sr collaborates to coordinate service delivery with families and team members, making necessary referrals and providing pastoral care rounds and visits in assigned clinical areas. The role involves identifying, assessing, and responding to the age-specific developmental, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs of children and families, with a particular focus on emotional and spiritual support during illness, crisis, and grief. This includes planning and leading worship or special services, developing trusting relationships with families, and providing timely intervention in emergency situations. The Chaplain Sr also documents care, communicates with the healthcare team, advocates for child and family needs, participates in interdisciplinary rounds, and provides leadership in family services. Administrative and project management duties, including orienting and supervising volunteers and precepting students, maintaining records, and assisting with the hospital-wide pastoral care intake and on-call systems, are also part of the role. The position adheres to service principles with a customer service focus on innovation, service excellence, and teamwork.
