The ACPE Chaplain Resident position is a full-time, temporary work-study program typically lasting one year and consisting of three units of Clinical Pastoral Education. The Chaplain Resident provides or makes available spiritual, religious, and emotional care for patients and their families during the patient’s hospitalization. Provides spiritual and emotional support for the hospital staff. Participates in Clinical Pastoral Education processes such as pastoral reflection, pastoral formation, and personal identity clarification, with a view toward pastoral and personal growth, integration, and competence. Works toward the outcomes of Level II CPE articulated in the ACPE Standards and in preparation for certification with the Association of Professional Chaplains, the National Association of Catholic Chaplains, or the National Association of Jewish Chaplains.
