About The Position

The Chaplain 2 plays a key role in Catholic healthcare by ensuring the spiritual needs of patients/residents, families and staff are tended to and by contributing to the culture of holistic care. Delivers pastoral care to patients, families, and staff. The Chaplain 2 serves as staff chaplain for one or more clinical units/locations and has responsibility for ensuring the spiritual and religious needs of patients/residents and family are met on the assigned units. Responds to emergency pager requests 24/7, on a regular rotation as part of an on-call schedule. Develops and leads worship services and initiatives to meet the spiritual needs of the organization. The Chaplain 2 relies on experience and judgment to perform the ministerial role and operates independently under general supervision and within a pastoral care team reporting to the Director of Pastoral Care. S/he mentors less experienced pastoral care staff, volunteers and students.

Requirements

Five years in pastoral ministry with at least 2 years ministry in a healthcare setting
Graduate degree in theology or related field from an accredited seminary or theological school
Completion of 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) through ACPE and a commitment to become certified within 24 months of hire.
Fluent in English
Knowledge and skill in dealing with spiritual dynamics of illness, loss and death.
Ability to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
Strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills.
Commitment to professional growth and development.
Ecumenical openness to working in a pluralistic setting.
Computer proficiency.
Board Certified with NACC, APC or NAJC.
Appropriate ecclesial endorsement.
