We are searching for the best talent for Change Readiness Director – Innovative Medicine R&D. Position Overview The Change Readiness Director role is part of the Strategy, Portfolio, & Operations organization (SP&O). This role is an active leader in achieving the outcomes for SP&O’s Learning, Development, and Business Readiness strategic pillar: adaptable and empowered R&D teams and team systems, building individual capabilities to enable performance and development, and successful implementation and adoption of R&D transformations. This role will be responsible for driving organizational change and leading the strategy, development, and implementation of improvement programs and transformations that drive performance and efficiency at a R&D-wide level. The Change Readiness Director is a forward-thinking leader with a deep understanding of change readiness and engagement principles and extensive experience in development within the pharmaceutical industry. This role advises senior management of opportunities to drive successful change and adoption across the organization. They guide other colleagues through consultation, mentoring, and collaborative problem solving to deploy innovative solutions, providing leadership across matrix teams. The Change Readiness Director proactively creates a purpose driven environment by aligning Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives, and R&D’s Courage & Care culture with the strategies and solutions owned. The Change Readiness Director will be pivotal in working with R&D senior leaders and employees to prepare the organization for continuous evolution, implementation and realization of R&D strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Change Management: Strong knowledge of Change Management frameworks principles, and methodologies.
  • Performance Consulting: Proven experience in performance consulting to identify gaps and recommend solutions.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver on-time results.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data to inform training strategies and improve program effectiveness.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Influence: Strong interpersonal skills that allow for effective collaboration with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in change management, organizational development, or communications, with a focus on operating model, culture and technology transformations required.
  • Experience in leading teams and external partners required.
  • Proven experience in managing complex projects and leading cross-functional teams required.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working inside a pharma R&D organization preferred.
  • Certification in Change Management (e.g., Prosci, ACMP) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Change Readiness Strategy Development: Creates and implements change strategies and plans that align with organizational and program objectives, addressing the anticipated impacts on stakeholders and devising strategic initiatives to ensure smooth transitions.
  • Communications Strategy & Execution: Crafts and implements communications frameworks and plans to engage employees at all levels, delivering the right message, to the right audience, at the right time, through the most appropriate channels, to ensure clarity, consistency, and accessibility throughout the transformation process.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Building: Identify and engage key stakeholders to gain buy-in and support across all levels of the R&D organization.
  • Establish readiness & Measurement Strategies: Develop and implement metrics and dashboards to measure the effectiveness of change programs and overall impact on R&D performance.
  • Change Impact Identification and Needs Assessment: Identify the significant changes resulting from R&D strategic imperatives across the ecosystem to drive implementation and translate insights into a comprehensive engagement strategy to prepare employees effectively.
  • Cultural Transformation: Role Models our R&D culture of Courage & Care and understands the levers and techniques to embed cultural and behavior shifts and new ways of working into a large matrix organization.
