About The Position

Chair, Undergraduate Nursing, School of Health Studies Job Overview Berkeley College, with campuses located in the New Jersey/New York metropolitan area, seeks a dynamic and innovative leader to serve as the Chair of its Nursing programs, which include the LPN to BSN and Practical Nurse programs. In this role, the Department Chair will be responsible for the overall administration of the academic department in accordance with college policies and procedures. In general terms, the most important of these responsibilities is to ensure the academic quality, integrity, and viability of the department in all aspects, including faculty, curricula, budget planning, and student learning and outcomes. The Chair of the Nursing Department reports directly to the Dean of the School of Health Studies and works closely with a dedicated team of faculty and administrators committed to strengthening and growing the programs. . Requirements

  • Minimum of a doctoral degree in nursing, or a master’s degree in nursing with an earned doctoral degree in another discipline required.
  • Doctoral credentials (such as PhD, DNP, CPNP-PC, FNP-C, ANP-BC).
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of formal teaching experience in an accredited nursing program is also required.
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered New Jersey Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to build successful relationships with student populations, are also required.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of qualified full-time/adjunct faculty and staff and evaluate their performance through regular evaluations and feedback.
  • Assess all nursing program curricula and syllabi to include textbooks and supplementary materials/resources.
  • Assign faculty teaching schedules and monitor workloads.
  • Manage the professional development of all Nursing faculty and staff.
  • Manage the departmental budget in collaboration with the School Dean.
  • Conduct regular faculty meetings to facilitate communication and encourage faculty participation in curriculum evaluation, budget planning, and accreditation initiatives.
  • Possess a strong understanding of current nursing accreditation standards.
  • Serve as the point of contact for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (“CCNE”), the New Jersey Board of Nursing and state regulatory compliance in addition to drafting and submitting accreditation reports.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for curriculum maps, assessment plans, and student outcomes.
  • Monitor and analyze student academic success data and make recommendations to improve the delivery of curriculum.
  • Participate in student success interventions.
  • Collaborate with the School Dean and College administration in maintaining compliance with College policies and procedures in addition to advancing the departmental mission and goals.
  • Participate in College committees, professional organizations, new student orientations, open houses, community events, and commencement.
  • Teach six hours per week each semester.
  • Perform other duties as required by the School Dean.
