About The Position

Noorda-COM seeks an accomplished physician-educator and collaborative leader to serve as Chair of Clinical Sciences . This faculty leadership role directs and supports the Clinical Sciences faculty while strengthening student relationships and academic achievement in the pre-clinical years . The Chair advances departmental and College priorities through teaching, scholarship, and institutional service, building partnerships across Clinical Affairs, Academic Affairs, Academic Success, and Student Affairs.

Requirements

  • DO/MD (terminal degree) in requisite area of expertise
  • Board certified (AOA or ABMS)
  • Subject matter expertise relevant to department focus
  • Teaching experience with medical students or residents with progressive leadership experience
  • Influential, confident leader with strong communication and decision-making skills
  • Self-directed, collaborative, and adaptable in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail, professionalism, and confidentiality

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Administration: Align departmental vision and goals with College strategy; develop departmental goals, annual budgets, and faculty workload plans with the Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs; foster effective communication and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Curriculum Oversight: Serve as course director for pre-clinical CEPA courses; partner with the Chair of Osteopathic Principles and Practice to coordinate CEPA curriculum development, delivery, and continuous quality improvement; support competency-based education, entrustable professional activities, and longitudinal assessment strategies.
  • Faculty & Student Engagement: Supervise, mentor, and develop faculty; recruit and support faculty appointments and development aligned with COCA standards; advise and mentor students in scholarship and community initiatives; engage in teaching and (as applicable) direct patient care.
  • Accreditation & Quality: Contribute to accreditation reporting and CQI initiatives; ensure integration of clinical skills practice and OMT skills with Osteopathic Principles and Practices.
  • Service: Promote community outreach and a culture of service and osteopathic identity (e.g., Volunteer Care Clinic, Kaufusi’s Keiki’s, United Way activities).
