About The Position

As a member of the International Americas (IA) Executive Team, this position provides executive financial leadership and oversight for Sysco’s International Americas region, encompassing Canada and the Latin America, Caribbean & Export (LACE) markets. The role is responsible for comprehensive financial planning, management, and the overall control environment across all business units, ensuring strong internal controls, governance practices, and SOX‑compliant processes that safeguard company assets and support Sysco’s financial obligations. As a strategic partner to the Senior Vice President, International Americas, and a key member of the IA Leadership Team, the role serves as a trusted advisor guiding financial strategy, operational performance, and long‑term growth across the International Americas portfolio. The position has oversight of Canada’s four Regional Business Units, Specialty Finance, Corporate Finance, and the finance and accounting teams across LACE.

Requirements

  • 11+ years financial analyst and/or accounting experience required
  • Prior managerial experience as an executive, functional lead required
  • Undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing with access to a vehicle is required.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the methods and procedures for executing the company’s financial operations in accordance with corporate and government guidelines
  • Operates as a consultant and key business partner to maximize profitability of the Canadian and LACE operations; for example, develops business rationale for improving efficiency of the network footprint
  • Through extensive analysis and cost formulation practices, develops and recommends plans for expansion of existing programs, operations, and financial activities
  • Ensures monthly forecasts are accurate and timely
  • Provides advisory role to executive staff for profit opportunities and cost reductions
  • Develops business strategies, monitors progress and makes adjustments/recommendations as needed
  • Responsible for ensuring the company’s Profit Plan is prepared as directed and submitted in a timely fashion according to Sysco guidelines
  • Controls and reviews day to day operations of the Finance/Accounting Department, Operations and Sales
  • Provides continuous direction and guidance to other departments to ensure the safeguarding of company assets
  • Directs or conducts management studies and prepares workload and budget estimates for specified or assigned operations
  • Analyzes and submits operational activity reports and helps identify potential problems; recommends necessary actions to correct those identified
  • Consistently provides comprehensive audits of internal company operations
  • Ensures optimum return rate on investments/company assets
  • Develops long range planning schedules that can be utilized by the company
  • Assists in the recruiting and continuous training and development of departmental associates and assists in interpreting the company’s policies and practices
  • Responsible for performance management and development of finance associates
  • Aids in the solicitation of new or prospective business by participating in company meetings and presentations when necessary and in other activities within the market area to develop and foster the company’s recognition within the business community
  • Liaises with key stakeholders at Sysco Corporate, Houston to leverage best practice methodologies and systems
  • Co-chair the Pension Governance Committee
  • Supports civil and acquisition legal matters
  • Participates as a Sysco Canada Board of Director
  • Manages a complex payroll and accounting practice across 10 provincial jurisdictions, including both Union and Non-Union agreements, in a highly multi-cultural and bilingual work environment
  • Leads insurance rate renewals, partnering with established brokers
  • Positively influence and shape a large and inclusive organizational culture to be one that’s productive, vibrant, and a desirable place to work.
  • Ability to effectively lead change and transformational initiatives through sound change management practices that will ensure sustained adoption, including stakeholder engagement across multiple functions
