Requirements

Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) in Oregon required – or ability to obtain/transfer license within 3 months of hire
Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
Passion for working with animals and their owners
Experience with proper animal handling and restraint
Understand the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

Experienced CVT preferred
Degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program preferred
3 years’ experience as a veterinary technician or assistant in a veterinary clinical setting preferred

Responsibilities

Obtain accurate and thorough medical histories
Perform basic exam procedures
Perform venipuncture and Intravenous (IV) catheter placement (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)
Perform digital radiology (X-ray) including positioning
Perform complete dental procedures, including digital x-rays, scaling, polishing, charting
Assist with general anesthesia and surgical procedures (induction, intubation, monitoring, aseptic technique, recovery)
Perform medical math, accurately calculate, draw up and administer drugs
Perform laboratory skills including microscope (ear and fecal cytology); automated in-house machines
Provide excellent client communication/education
Perform Technician appointments independently, including accurate medical record documentation
