About The Position

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) to join our interdisciplinary team. The CTRS will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate therapeutic recreation programs designed to improve patients’ physical, cognitive, emotional, and social functioning. This role plays a vital part in enhancing quality of life and supporting individualized treatment goals. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Therapy, or related field
  • Current certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC)/or applying to take the exam.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, rehabilitation, long-term care, or pediatric settings preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ recreational, leisure, and functional abilities
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessed needs and physician/referral recommendations
  • Facilitate therapeutic activities such as adaptive sports, arts and crafts, community reintegration outings, cognitive stimulation groups, and wellness programs
  • Document patient progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and social workers
  • Educate patients and families on community leisure resources and adaptive recreation opportunities
  • Ensure safety, infection control, and risk management practices during all programs
  • Assist with program development, quality improvement initiatives, and special events
