We are looking for a Certified Radiographer - Mammographer to join our collaborative team at Memorial Health! What You'll Do: Performs general head, sinus, chest, abdominal, pelvic, and lumbar computed tomography procedures, as well as specialty procedures as requested; confirms images sent to Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), sends images to Vitrea as requested by Radiologist; operates power injector; assists with daily quality control procedures (i.e., imaging of phantom, checking contrast temperature and checking crash cart). If mammography certified then performs mammograms; performs and documents quality control procedures (e.g. cassette and darkroom cleanliness, processor quality control, etc.); scans images in R2 unit for CAD assistance; ensures all data has been gathered and placed for interpretation by Radiologist in a timely manner. Maintains competency and current knowledge of all radiographic procedures including Computed Tomography (CT) and/or mammography and surgery imaging to provide high quality diagnostic procedures. Operates all imaging equipment in the prescribed manner to provide high quality diagnostic images, including but not limited to utilizing proper technique, proper positioning of patient for procedure, collimating, shielding, use of lead markers, and the immobilization of the patient using instruction and/or equipment developed for this purpose. Maintains equipment to ensure operational functioning; reports any potential hazards or malfunctions of equipment to supervisor or other appropriate resource; contacts service if warranted by a supervisor; assists with end of shift responsibilities; maintains clean work area. Provides technical radiological services as requested by patient’s physician to assist in the diagnoses of disease, injury and or the detection of foreign bodies through performance of all radiographic and fluoroscopic studies in the department, in surgery, and in other patient care areas. Processes images through the use of the work stations and Computed Radiography (CR) units; assesses quality of images prior to sending them to PACS via workstation or Paxport. Assists the Radiologist and/or other Physicians with procedures directly related to diagnostic/interventional radiology; preparing and maintaining sterile fields/solutions; administers contrast media as delegated by the radiologist; demonstrates documented competency in venipuncture and contrast administration technique as defined in department policy, including properly assessing patient’s existing intravenous lines and proper access of these lines for contrast administration. Also, assists radiologist with stereotactic biopsies and needle localizations. Utilizes the Brevera and Trident to support biopsies and lumpectomies. Scans essential information pertinent to exams that are performed; maintains patient confidentiality; provides technical assistance to physicians as needed, such as assistance with viewing images on PACS, calling reports, printing reports, digitizing or printing images. Maintains equipment to ensure operational functioning; reports any potential hazards or malfunctions of equipment to supervisor or other appropriate resource; contacts service if warranted by a supervisor; assists with end of shift responsibilities; maintains clean work area. Schedules patient procedures, providing pre-exam instructions; verifies patient/caregiver understanding of instruction; maintains patient history files in department utilizing Radiology Information System, following departmental policies and procedures; maintains film files.
