The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting and processing blood specimens for laboratory testing in an acute care hospital setting. This role involves ensuring accurate specimen labeling, processing, and timely delivery for testing, performing blood collection using age-appropriate techniques, maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies, and supporting daily operational needs. Additionally, the Phlebotomist assists with the coordination and execution of blood drives, including donor interviewing and screening. This position requires strong critical thinking skills, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and effectiveness in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Approved Nationally accredited training course or program in Phlebotomy
  • Phlebotomy certification from ASCP or NHA required
  • Basic Life Support certification

Responsibilities

  • Collecting and processing blood specimens for laboratory testing in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Ensuring accurate specimen labeling, processing, and timely delivery for testing.
  • Performing blood collection using age‑appropriate techniques.
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Supporting daily operational needs.
