About The Position

Pharmacy Technicians play a vital role in delivering exceptional care to patients and customers by assisting pharmacists with medication dispensing, inventory management, and other operational tasks. Operating under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, this role ensures compliance with all state, federal, and company policies while maintaining high standards of service and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Customer Engagement and Service:
  • Greet customers and patients, offer assistance, and resolve issues to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members, emphasizing habits such as greeting, eye contact, and courtesy.
  • Develop strong relationships with repeat or high-value customers by anticipating their needs and providing proactive support.
  • Identify patient needs and assist until satisfaction is achieved.
  • Operations Pharmacy Support:
  • Assist pharmacists with operational tasks in compliance with state, federal, and company policies, ensuring accuracy and adherence to procedures.
  • Prescription Filling:
  • Enter patient and drug information accurately into pharmacy systems, retrieve and verify medications, and identify potential interactions.
  • Error Reporting:
  • Immediately report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies for quality improvement.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Oversee inventory activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and organizing pharmaceutical shipments.
  • Manage inventory reorder requirements using pharmacy systems and wholesalers.
  • Inspect inventory regularly to remove outdated or recalled drugs and ensure proper storage.
  • Process claims for warehouse overages, shortages, and order errors.
  • Payments and Claims Management:
  • Collect payments and co-pays from patients and accurately adjudicate claims to third-party payers.
  • Documentation and Record Maintenance:
  • File medication orders, prescriptions, invoices, and controlled substance (CS) records promptly and accurately.
  • Communication and Notifications:
  • Answer phone calls in compliance with departmental standards.
  • Notify patients when prescriptions are ready after the pharmacist completes the final check.
  • Handle returns-to-stock (RTS) for medications left in will-call for 10–12 days, notifying patients before restocking.
  • Store Maintenance:
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and well-organized pharmacy area.
  • Perform daily or weekly maintenance tasks for department information systems.
  • Compliance and Training:
  • Complete all mandatory organizational training annually within the expected timeframe.
  • Participate in staff meetings, new employee orientation, and training programs as required.
  • Team Collaboration
  • Foster positive intra- and inter-departmental relationships.
  • Assist fellow staff members and support pharmacy leadership as needed.
  • Exceptional Customer Service
  • Deliver superior customer service, including processing prior authorizations, managing out-of-stock medications, and addressing refills requested too soon.
  • Attend and actively participate in organizational programs, committees, meetings, and functions as required by InclusivCare.
