Certified Peer Recovery Specialist – Newport News, VA Summary: We are seeking a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist to join our team in Newport News, VA. This role provides an opportunity to leverage lived experience to support individuals in their recovery journeys. The Specialist will collaborate with a multidisciplinary treatment team, provide client support, and assist with crisis interventions when needed.

Requirements

  • Must have a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist certificate
  • Associate’s degree in a Human Services-related field preferred
  • Strong ethical values and mature judgment
  • Cultural competency training
  • Valid driver’s license and references
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively as part of a treatment team
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality

Responsibilities

  • Participate in treatment team meetings and provide lived experience expertise
  • Maintain regular contact with referral sources and provide updates on client progress
  • Conduct concurrent reviews and complete medical record documentation in a timely manner
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all client interactions
  • Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives and peer record reviews
  • Foster professional relationships with clients, staff, and external partners
  • Provide transportation for clients to access community resources
  • Participate in emergency services duty on rotation, including crisis assessments and hospital diversions
