About The Position

In addition to fulfilling the responsibilities of a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS), the CPRS Supervisor provides leadership, oversight, and direct supervision to Peer Recovery Specialists and clients during assigned shifts. This role ensures adherence to program protocols, regulatory standards, and recovery-oriented best practices while promoting a supportive, person-centered environment. The CPRS Supervisor collaborates with leadership to address operational needs, staff development, and client care concerns.

Requirements

  • Current certification as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) through the Virginia Certification Board (VCB) required.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience or two (2) years of related experience in a substance use disorder treatment or behavioral health setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and performance feedback to Certified Peer Recovery Specialists.
  • Orient and train new Peer Recovery staff on programming and facility operations.
  • Assist with interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retention of Peer Recovery staff.
  • Support corrective action processes in collaboration with leadership and Human Resources.
  • Develop and manage staff schedules, including coordination of required trainings and coverage needs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching to team members.
  • Assist with client interventions and provide peer support services as needed.
  • Ensure services align with individualized recovery plans and program objectives.
  • Identify emergency or crisis situations and facilitate access to appropriate resources, including navigating community systems and advocating for client needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with organizational, state, and federal standards.
  • Uphold ethical standards by adhering to the Virginia Certification Board Code of Ethics for Peer Recovery Specialists.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings, leadership meetings, regional meetings, and other facility meetings as requested.
  • Complete all required trainings and maintain mandatory continuing education hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
