This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. It is responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical records and provides a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department. The Care Unit (Med Surg/Observation/Progressive Care floors) population includes patients with complex acute conditions, such as orthopedic surgical patients (including total joint replacements), general surgical patients, and patients presenting with arrhythmias, chest pain, and/or myocardial infarction, offering a great learning environment. As a Certified Patient Care Assistant in this unit, you will support a 43-bed Medical Surgical department and a 28-bed Observation department, and float to the Progressive Care Unit as needed. Patient care delivery is reflective of a pod-based model, where RN's, LPN's, and PCA's work collaboratively and proactively to ensure coordinated care, anticipating patient needs and exceeding expectations.
