About The Position

QSAC is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist (OT) to work with children and young adults at their Whitestone Day School. The OT will be responsible for following a treatment plan/IEP goals designed to improve, develop, restore, or maintain opportunities for active participation in self-maintenance, work, leisure, and play for the students supported. Additionally, OTs will provide education and training to Occupational Therapy Assistants. QSAC is a New York City and Long Island based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children and adults with autism and their families. Their mission is to help individuals achieve greater independence, realize their potential, and contribute meaningfully to their communities through person-centered services that enhance communication, socialization, academic, and functional skills.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program
  • Current New York State OT license to practice

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with people with autism highly preferred
  • One to three years’ experience working as an OT in a related setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Direct service according to a written treatment plan/IEP that the OT develops
  • Recommend modification of treatment approaches to reflect the student’s changing needs
  • Develop appropriate plans for the students being supported
  • Provide collaborative education and supervision services to promote best practices and professional growth to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
  • Communicate and interact with other team members, school personnel, and families
  • Develop and maintain a daily schedule, which includes sites, students/classrooms and other activities/duties
  • Maintain and records accurate records and documentation
  • Maintain high standards of confidentiality, attendance, and flexibility, while working cooperatively with Supervisors and other employees
