About The Position

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) assists occupational therapists with planning and conducting programs to help patients in regaining physical and mental stability.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited program approved by The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE)Therapy Association (AOTA) with Associates Degree as an Occupational Therapy Assistant
  • Must be a Licensed/Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, issued by the State Board of Occupational Therapy.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Customer/client orientation.
  • Detail oriented and Attentive.
  • Ability to lift/move heavy objects.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews medical history of patients and assists in developing personalized plans to improve the health and wellness of individuals.
  • Assists in the assessment of a patient's mental or physical condition.
  • Evaluates and reports patient's reactions to the program and initiates changes accordingly.
  • Emphasizes improving the daily quality of life for patients through analyzing their home and or work environment and providing recommendations for accommodating these areas.
  • Follows treatment plan developed in collaboration with occupational therapist by teaching techniques.
  • Provides education to family members and or employer on matters of accommodations and program progress.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
