Requirements

  • A valid, current Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) License in the state of California.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to relate positively to residents, families, and colleagues.
  • A dedicated, patient-centered approach to therapy and rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Treatment: Implement therapeutic treatments as directed by the Occupational Therapist and the physician’s care plan to help patients master activities of daily living.
  • Clinical Documentation: Maintain meticulous records, including daily treatment notes and weekly progress reports, in full compliance with the OT Board State Practice Act and payer requirements.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Communicate effectively with supervisors and the broader healthcare team regarding patient progress, goals, and discharge plans.
  • Education & Training: Instruct nursing staff and families in maintenance programs and caregiver techniques; assist in training Restorative Aides.
  • Discharge Planning: Actively participate in the discharge process to ensure patients have a safe and successful transition home.
  • Environment Stewardship: Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of the treatment area to ensure a safe, high-functioning therapy environment.
