About The Position

To assist in providing quality occupational therapy care while maintaining positive level of interaction with facilities and patients under the direction of licensed personnel.

Requirements

  • Is a graduate of an approved school as a certified occupational therapy assistant
  • AOTA Certified in Occupational Therapy
  • Holds valid state license
  • Current physical exam and/or free from communicable disease, as required by state
  • Is familiar with policies and procedures and responsibilities
  • Completes responsibilities in an accurate, thorough manner

Responsibilities

  • Under direction of the Licensed Occupational Therapist, optimizes physical ability skills among patients in facilities:
  • Assists in screenings and initial evaluations of all residents
  • Implements and executes treatment of all residents who could benefit from intervention as prescribed by a state approved referral source
  • Appropriately delivers treatment to achieve identified objectives
  • Appropriately documents progress against identified objectives using S.O.A.P. format
  • Communicates patient status and needs to supervising Occupational Therapist, and as appropriate to the patient, the patient’s family, the staff and other professionals
  • Under direction of the Licensed Occupational Therapist, builds a strong rehabilitative care practice within each facility:
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with each facility staff
  • Actively assists in educating staff, other health care professionals and the general community about therapy services on a consistent basis
  • Attends facility patient care plan, administrative staff/department and family conference meetings as directed by the Licensed Occupational Therapist
  • Establishes and maintains a good working relationship with other health care professionals and colleagues in the community
  • Provides supervisory support to Rehab Tech as appropriate
  • Continues professional development:
  • Expands and enhances clinical expertise, professional and management skills through interaction with supervisors/managers and continuing education activities
  • Maintains state licensure
  • Participates in professional and community organizations
  • Attends continuing education functions as approved
  • Assists in teaching personnel regarding new policies, procedures, and techniques
  • Actively participates in the orientation of new staff
  • Carries out Administrative Duties timely:
  • Submits billing, payroll and expense documentation in a timely manner
  • Assists manager/supervisor in collection of statistics and updating or record keeping
  • Keeps manager/supervisor informed
  • Performs other activities as assigned
