Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA)
About The Position
NaphCare is seeking to hire a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join their team of medical professionals at the Kilby Correctional Facility in Montgomery, AL. This Correctional CNA will work under the supervision of a registered nurse, alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals, to provide care to individuals in residence. The role operates within a controlled environment where security is a top priority, offering diverse duties such as assisting physicians with examinations, taking patient histories and vital signs, and supporting administrative tasks. This unique position offers an opportunity to make a difference for a diverse patient population with complex medical needs. Requirements
- CNA Certification - Completion of an accredited CNA training program and passing a state-approved competency exam
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Be able to obtain CPR and first aid certification, may be required
- Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
- Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
Responsibilities
- Assist with performing patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems, medication history
- Taking vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, respiration, and weight
- Perform routine procedures under established protocols (to include but not limited to phlebotomy, EKG’s, dressing changes and wound cultures)
- Documenting medical history including medications, treatment and medical conditions
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills including bathing, dressing, feeding and mobility
- Providing basic wound care, basic laboratory tests, basic patient education and instructions
- Observing and reporting changes in patients’ physical or mental health to nurses
