Certified Nursing Assistant/ Nursing Assistant- Solid Organ Transplant Unit
About The Position
This position is for a Certified Nursing Assistant or Nursing Assistant on the Solid Organ Transplant Unit (SOTU) at Nebraska Medicine. SOTU is a 36-bed med-surg unit and is Nebraska’s only solid organ transplant unit. It provides medical, surgical, telemetry, and progressive care to adult pre- and post-liver, kidney, pancreas, intestinal, and islet cell transplant patients. The unit is also home to the Intestinal Rehab Program, which is the busiest intestinal transplant program in the U.S., caring for patients from all over the world. This nursing position offers many growth opportunities through unit teamwork, patient complexity, relationship building with patients, and transplant fellowship classes.
Requirements
- Minimum of 16 years of age (for Certified Nursing Assistant)
- Minimum of 18 years of age (for Nursing Assistant)
- Possesses a Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Nebraska (for Certified Nursing Assistant)
- High school education or equivalent (for Nursing Assistant)
- Six months experience in patient care or must be enrolled in nursing program (for Nursing Assistant)
- Demonstrated effective communication skills
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later)
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
- Direct patient care experience
Responsibilities
- Perform delegated patient activities as assigned by licensed nursing personnel for the achievement of patient`s plan of care.
