The BSV Nursing Aide role involves providing continuous bedside presence to patients during their active transitioning phase, ensuring they are not alone and are supported with dignity, peace, and comfort in their final hours. This includes performing personal care services such as bathing, dressing, oral care, incontinence care, and gentle repositioning to maintain comfort and skin integrity. The aide offers compassionate companionship, therapeutic presence, and emotional reassurance to patients throughout the dying process, while creating and maintaining a calm, quiet, and respectful environment. They also provide respite and supportive presence for family members and caregivers when on-site, allowing them moments of rest, and offer emotional support and guidance during the active dying phase. Key responsibilities include observing and promptly reporting changes in the patient’s physical, emotional, or behavioral condition to the Registered Nurse Case Manager, reporting deviations from the plan of care to the Case Manager and interdisciplinary team, and accurately documenting all care. The role also requires safely and appropriately using durable medical equipment and performing postmortem care with dignity and adherence to hospice protocol, along with other assigned duties to support quality end-of-life care.
