About The Position

The Mary Campbell Center is first, last, and always home to 68 residents. The Resident Care Technician (RCT) is the frontline care giver who assists MCC residents in achieving a truly homelike environment in which the resident lives with respect, personal dignity, and independence to the fullness of their abilities. The RCT is a key member of the interdisciplinary team that helps to achieve this result for each resident. The RCT's primary roles are 1) to assist their assigned resident to which they are assigned in routine health care, personal hygiene, self-care, and independent living skills; 2) to support the resident in the maintenance of their living environment, and 3) to act as an advocate for the resident, all in accordance with the Guiding Principles and mission of The Center.

Requirements

  • be a good person of high character who demonstrates compassion and understanding, works with a positive attitude and to advocates responsibly on behalf of residents who have varying degrees of disabilities
  • possesses a High School diploma or equivalent
  • a current CNA license issued by the State of Delaware
  • maintains current BLS certification
  • interacts appropriately with all levels of personnel within a team environment
  • can to read and write and demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills
  • possesses the ability to lift and transfer an adult and use a lift device proficiently when required

Responsibilities

  • Assists residents, respites and community participants in preparation for pool and hot tub programs.
  • Ensures resident care needs are met during all activities in the pool area.
  • Remains aware of resident's physical abilities/limitations/changes in medical situations and reports any change in resident condition to a supervisor &/or the Neighborhood Nurse.
  • Organizes, prepares program materials and supplies daily and as needed. Will be assigned to perform the following duties as necessary: locker room and laundry area duty, stocking inventory, etc.
  • Escorts residents to and from program areas as needed.
  • Ensures resident safety. Reports safety hazards to Supervisor or appropriate department manager.
  • Ensures a clean, safe environment before, during and after programs.
  • In addition, may provide other standard responsibilities of a standard floor CNA.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
