About The Position

The Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) is responsible for providing comprehensive care to residents within a designated area of the facility. This role involves understanding and adhering to the interdisciplinary Care Plan, and actively contributing information to ensure the plan remains current with resident needs. The CNA delivers restorative care, focusing on resident hygiene, grooming, and psychosocial well-being. Additionally, the CNA helps maintain a clean, functional, and home-like environment in resident care areas. Effective communication with Licensed Staff and other department heads regarding resident needs is crucial. The CNA is expected to report observations promptly to Licensed Staff, document information daily on Nursing Flow Records, and attend all required in-services and staff meetings. This position reports directly to the Licensed Staff assigned to the specific unit.

Requirements

  • Ability to organize, plan and supervise care of a group of residents, assuring quality is provided at all times.
  • Maintains effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Is of good emotional, mental and physical health, having sound judgment and high standards.
  • Willing and capable of providing emergency care as needed for any resident.
  • Is courteous in working with residents, families, and employees.
  • Maintains a neat, well-groomed appearance at all times, appropriate for resident care.
  • Has a desire to work with geriatric residents and their current and prospective needs.
  • Must be in the facility ready to begin assigned duties on time and as scheduled.
  • Must be willing to work preferred shifts as scheduled and assist on other shifts as needed to assure adequate staffing.
  • Must have the ability to provide the care as outlined on the interdisciplinary Care Plan and other assignments.
  • Must demonstrate ability to function as a cooperative team member with each member of the Nursing Department and other departments.
  • Must have ability to provide related bedside resident care services as per facility policy and procedures.
  • Must display ability to adapt to on-the-job training and adhere to standards of the facility.
  • Must be able and willing to function appropriately in a disaster or evacuation of the facility.
  • Must demonstrate ability to follow direction of supervising staff.
  • Must have a pre-employment and an annual Tuberculosis screening examination.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for residents in a designated area of the facility.
  • Be knowledgeable of and follow the information outlined on the interdisciplinary Care Plan.
  • Provide information to keep the care plan current with the resident's needs.
  • Provide restorative care for each resident, keeping them well-groomed and clean.
  • Assist to meet the psychosocial needs of residents.
  • Assist to keep resident care areas clean, in good working order, and a home-like atmosphere.
  • Communicate with the Licensed Staff and other department heads regarding resident's needs.
  • Report all relevant observations to the Licensed Staff assigned to the unit in a timely manner.
  • Document information timely and daily on the Nursing Flow Record and other records as indicated.
  • Attend in-services and staff meetings as required.
